The aerial hoop<\/strong> is a circular aerial apparatus, with variable diameter, which can be hung from one or two points (fixed or swinging) and in which the acrobat performs various figures. Also known as “Lyra<\/strong>“, the aerial hoop<\/em> is one of the most sensual and aesthetic apparatuses. The artists who work with it, primarily female, use their flexibility and dancer-like lines to perform elegant and graceful figures.<\/p>\n There are two main ways to practice aerial hoop: in classic mode or in “hoop-dance” mode.<\/p>\n The classic mode is practiced at a fixed height, on average 3 meters above the ground. The artist performs acrobatic figures in the air, suspended from their hoop.<\/p>\n Hoop-dance is practiced at variable heights: during the performance, the hoop rises and falls, lifted either by a winch or by a system of ropes and pulleys. This allows the acrobat to alternate between floor work and aerial work. Near the ground, the acrobat can perform foot-driven propulsion and play with the rhythm and speed of movements.
