The technique of aerial silks

Acrobats and the aerial hoop

The technique is indeed performed in the air using a suspended hoop. Two methods exist: classic mode and dance hoop mode. In the first technique, the hoop is positioned at a height of about 3m from the ground. As for the dance hoop, the height of the hoop will vary during the performance carried out by the acrobat(s). They may perform, for example, floor work, followed by rotation and then work in the air. In this case, a winch or a system of ropes/pulleys will be useful to modify the height of the hoop.
